Mistral launched its assistant as Le Chat in February 2025, and it passed one million downloads in its first two weeks. In May 2026 Mistral renamed it Vibe and later merged its chat and work modes into one experience. The address, accounts and history stayed the same, which is why people still search for “Le Chat Mistral” far more often than for “Mistral Vibe”.

How does Mistral find information about brands?

Two sources feed an answer. The first is training: what the model learned before release. Mistral does not disclose its training datasets or a cut-off date, so treat anything recent as at risk of being missing.

The second is search. In Vibe, web search is a tool the user enables. When it runs, the answer carries inline links and a Sources panel, and news results come from AFP and AP under Mistral’s news partnerships. Developers who build on Mistral’s API get web search only when they add it as a tool through the Agents API, so assistants built on Mistral models may answer from training alone.

What can a brand influence?

• Crawlable, plainly written pages. When search is on, Mistral needs pages that state what you do, for whom and at what price.
• News coverage. Because AFP and AP feed Mistral’s news results, coverage that reaches the wires can surface in answers about recent events.
• Local-language pages. French, German and other European-language versions of your key pages help where Mistral is used most.
• A consistent self-description. The same category, product names and claims across your site, profiles and third-party coverage help future model versions file you correctly.

Which prompts to use

Start with your category and comparison prompts in English, then add the same prompts in French and in the other European languages you sell in. Add compliance questions if they matter in your category, such as where data is stored or whether a tool is GDPR compliant, because European buyers ask them and the answers name specific vendors.

What to do with the results

Compare Mistral with ChatGPT and Gemini on identical prompts. If Mistral omits you in French but names you in English, the gap is your French-language coverage, not the engine. If it omits you everywhere, look at how widely and consistently you are described: Mistral answers without search depend on what the model learned, and that only changes when new versions are trained.

When Mistral names you with the wrong category or an outdated product, fix the description at the source. Say plainly on your own pages what you do and for whom, then earn the same description on independent sites. Judge progress over months, not days.
